Music rivalry can sometimes step over the borders of rhymes and verses, to attacks on individuals, their personalities and weaknesses.
Sometimes fans use the achievements of their favourite acts to troll or bully other artistes.
For instance, Shatta Wale and his fans troll Stonebwoy for having a deformity and the Bhim Natives return the troll by mocking the former‘s mouth.

However, rapper M.anifest, he wants to be exempted from such nasty rivalry.

Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, he urged his fans not to praise him by attacking other people.
The ‘Feels’ hitmaker explained his and other artistes’ contributions are different and they represent different things, hence care must be taken not belittle other people’s hard work.

“We like petting people against each other, instead of taking the best we all have to offer. Nobody is going to be the same,” he told Daniel Dadzie, host of the show.

M.anifest stated fans are not being forced to listen to any particular artiste, “it is a market place and we have choices so just choose what works for you.”
He urged fans of artistes to pick out the contributions and benefits from each artistes and put them together to make one huge sum of greatness for the industry.
He added fans of artistes can call them out for things they do not like about them but those things should not blind fans to the great works of the artistes.
“We just have to figure out as a whole, what we want to get from the artistes,” M.anifest stated.

Rivalry

Rivalry in the music industry dates back to the years of Ex Doe and Chicago.
In the 90s, that rivalry was a huge deal. According to the hiplife artiste, he regrets picking inspiration from American hip hop to create a tense atmosphere with another artiste.
He stated, he thought the rivalry could help build and grow his brand but it affected him negatively.

The ‘beefs’ spread to the early 2000s. Artistes like Lord Kenya, Akyeame and others were engaged in one beef or another.
In 2018, Ex Doe launched a campaign to promote healthy relationships between artistes.

However, it seems his agenda had not gotten to some fans and artistes yet. Other rappers like Kwaw Kese and D Black have faced trolling from Tinny about their rap skills and their lives.

Tinny called out Kwaw Kese for making his sugar mummy buy him his awards from the VGMA after calling the rapper wack. Kwaw Kese also trolled the rapper for living with his mum and having zero awards to his name.

Shatta Movement and Bhim Natives before the 2019 3Music Awards, were trolling each other on who has the best international appeal, more awards and others.

The rivalry extended to the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where the two camps were engaged in a brawl that later got them suspended from the scheme and stripped of all awards.

M.anifest, himself is not alien to rivalry. He has been engaged in line battles with Sarkodie which earned him the God MC title. Recently his new single ‘Rapper 101’ is a jab song to some persons in the industry.

Manifest dispelled claims that his recent song ‘Rapper 101’ is a jab and explained, it was his way of expressing some of his take on the industry.
