The rains subsided around 3 am on Friday and have caused floods that have rendered some roads un-motorable.
An alert by the Ghana Meteorological Agency predicts more rains in many parts of the country on Friday.
At the Accra-Kasoa highway, floods have completely inundated the Accra-bound dual carriageway, forcing motorists heading to Accra to drive on the opposite side of vehicles heading to Kasoa.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has called for assistance from the police to deal with the chaos there.
On social media, many are reporting cases of floods in their communities in the capital.
